Karen's journey began at the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts, where she honed her skills. Later, she attended Howard University, she was crowned Miss Howard University, graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Her education laid the foundation for her successful career in acting.
NOTABLE ROLES:
Lean on Me” (1989): Breakout role came alongside Morgan Freeman in this drama film. It marked her entry into the world of cinema.
The Cosby Show” and “A Different World”: Portrayed Charmaine Brown during the final seasons of “The Cosby Show” (1990–1992) and its spin-off, “A Different World” (1992–1993).
Malcolm & Eddie” (1996–2000): Played Nicolette Vandross, showcasing her comedic timing and versatility.
